Ground Floor
The impressive ground floor, with tall Romanesque arches behind thick natural stone walls, offers a knightly atmosphere. Floors of handmade regional terracotta underline its rustic charm. The lower unit of the former Cathar castle, comprising the ground floor and mezzanine, comfortably accommodates up to six people.
You enter the communal rooms through a massive wooden door. The impressive living room features a leather sofa seating area, a foosball table and a huge fireplace. The spacious, fully equipped kitchen has a large dining table seating twelve.
One of the three romantic bedrooms is at the back of the living room and is furnished with a four-poster bed and its own bathroom in local red marble, including a bathtub and bidet.
A wooden staircase in the living room leads up to another double room with a four-poster bed on the mezzanine level.
The third double room is also on the mezzanine level and is reached via an outside staircase set between idyllic stone walls.
A separate bathroom with toilet, shower and washing machine is available on the ground floor for the mezzanine-level rooms.
Upper Floor
The separate holiday apartment under the roof of the castle can be rented in addition and offers space for up to six further people across 180 square metres. As on the ground floor, the floor in the charming living areas is made of handmade southern French terracotta.
Alongside three cosy bedrooms with French beds, a bathroom with bathtub, shower and washing machine has been fitted. The open-plan kitchen is equipped with a stove, oven and refrigerator. The spacious, bright living area runs alongside the three bedrooms. In winter, a cast-iron wood-burning stove provides cosy warmth.
Surroundings
The property comprises 14 parcels of land with a total area of 6 hectares, including the valley in front of the castle with its stone-built grotto and spring. Far from the usual tourist trails, you can experience a still very unspoiled, agricultural France in the Ariège department of the Midi-Pyrénées region.
Enjoy regional specialities at local restaurants and explore the landscape by land or water: hiking, cycling, climbing, canyoning, rafting or guided tours with a mule and overnight camp will take you to the most remote corners of the hilly landscape.
At the seasonal craft and night markets in the surrounding villages, you'll have the chance to meet the locals and let yourself be drawn into a more unhurried way of life.
Another highlight, especially in the off-season or on rare rainy days, are the many archaeological sites to explore. With its prehistoric remains, the Ariège is a real treasure trove for young and old alike. Three impressive caves, once inhabited by Cro-Magnon people and artfully decorated with cave paintings, hold unique testimony to the early cultures who lived there and can be visited. Above ground, numerous exhibitions and guided tours invite especially the little ones to get involved: at the Château de Foix, at the Parc de la Préhistoire or the dinosaur park Xploria.
Low Season (outside mid and high season)

Mid Season (2026: 23 May – 27 June & 29 Aug – 26 Sep / 2027: 29 May – 26 June & 28 Aug – 25 Sep):
- €1,360 for one week (including €100 for final cleaning) on the ground floor for up to 6 people
- Each additional week costs €1,260
- Each additional person on the upper floor costs €150 per week (maximum 6 additional people)
High Season (2026: 27.06.-29.08. / 2027: 26.06.-28.08):
- €1,640 for one week (including €100 for final cleaning) on the ground floor for up to 6 people
- Each additional week costs €1,540
- Each additional person on the upper floor costs €200 per week (maximum 6 additional people)
- Bed linen, tea towels and towels are included in the rental price (1 bath towel and 1 hand towel per person)
- Dogs are allowed by arrangement (€25/animal)
- Check-in is possible from 4pm, check-out by 10am
- A 20% deposit is due at booking, with the remaining balance due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday
Cancellation Costs:
- up to 31 days before departure: 20% of the rental price
- 30 to 15 days before departure: 50% of the rental price
- 14 to 8 days before departure: 80% of the rental price
- in the event of later cancellation or failure to travel, the full rental price will be charged
